THE SECOND YEAR ON THE SILK ROAD

International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival, yet in its first year, took its place among the leading festivals in our country and became characteristically prominent both with its program and side activities and exclusives. The significance, credibility and the importance of a festival results from the program it offers; its publications, side activities and the quality and quantity of the screening halls aiming to embrace the public. In its second year, International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival presents so many firsts in the festival history of Turkey. For example; this year the festival will not be realized only at the city center but it would also be carried to the towns. The number of the cinema halls is tripled and there would be competitions at three different categories. By providing an international competition of debuts, the festival aims to honor and encourage future film makers and also support them financially for their forthcoming projects. Thus, it raises the amount of the award to the level of awards given by the major festivals in Turkey.

As a festival that achieved such stages and grades in its first year, we already started major studies in order to make it long living and permanent. Not long but within few years perhaps International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival will be organized in a culture-art valley that has the largest area in Turkey. We can state that in order to make the best and long lasted, we are competing with ourselves and similar attempts. Our target is to make Bursa a trademark in the field of culture and art, as it is in various fields, with International Bursa Silk Road Film Festival and to make this city also the centre of art by identifying it with cinema in the international platforms.
